My first gears were essentially softwares like
Amiga Trackers (ProTracker and Octamed) and the more recent
Jeskola Buzz, or dedicated expansion of computer systems, like the
MSX Music Module.
Here is my first Amiga module, as you can find it on
Aminet -->
Primal Blues.
Actually my software setup is still the same with the addition of other
chip music oriented softwares like
Game Boy LSDJ or the
Prophet64 cartridge on a C64 modified with a double SID, and the Propellerheads Reason software.
My hardware setup consist of a Yamaha MX16/6fx mixer, a Terratec Phase26 ASIO card, a Yamaha CS6X synthetizer with Vocoder/Harmonizer (PLG-100-VH) and Virtual Analog (PLG-150-AN) plugins, and a growing number of
DIY and
circuit bended devices.
I've also few MIDI gears, useful for giving an easier control to my DIY boxes and circuit bended toys. They consist of the very portable
Edirol PCR-M1 keyboard controller, a
midibox64 and the
MPA decoder from
Highly Liquid.
My interest in electronics is also due to my passion for audio equipment and synthetizers.
My first big DIY projects was a couple of devices created by Thorsten Klose of the
Midibox community: the
Midibox64 and the
MidiboxSID.
After the midibox experiences, I've explored
theremins, thanks to the
Christopher's projects, building both an
optical and a
classic theremin.
Those projects, were a my tribute to the never aging SID chip and one of the most piooneristic electronic instrument. I'm still using vactrols to try audio coupling between different devices and control signals; I've also developed a tube based audio amplifier with saturation / distortion controls, to give additional colour and harmonics to my self built gears.
